Matthew Jones, Professor of Mathematics

The faculty of the Mathematics Department at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for the Wallis Annenberg Endowed Professorship for Innovation in STEM Education.


The Wallis Annenberg Endowed Professor will lead the Center for Innovation in STEM Education. Scholarship and advocacy in the area of STEM education, including funded projects, will be expected. Teaching responsibilities in the mathematics department include mathematics courses for prospective elementary and secondary (6-12) teachers, education research and mathematics courses for in-service teachers in the Master of Arts in the Teaching of Mathematics, and other undergraduate mathematics courses. Other responsibilities include service to the department, the college, and the university, coordination of campus STEM activities, and academic advising.

Mathematics Department and the Center for Innovation in STEM Education

The mathematics department is an active group that includes mathematicians and mathematics educators, and offers bachelor’s degrees in mathematics or mathematics education, and a Master’s in the Art of Teaching Mathematics. The Center for Innovation in STEM Education continues a long tradition of more than twenty years of research and funded projects with students and educators in mathematics and in STEM more broadly.



Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in mathematics education AND at least 24 graduate units of mathematics content; OR,

A Ph.D. in mathematics AND a demonstrated record of scholarship in STEM education.

Preferred Qualifications

·      A record of scholarship and funded projects in STEM education

·      Evidence of skill as a leader in convening STEM projects

·      Skill in teaching and working with underrepresented groups


Rank and Salary


Rank as associate or full professor, tenure, and salary are negotiable and depend upon qualifications and professional experience.

CSU Dominguez Hills is a comprehensive public university located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.  With approximately 300 full-time faculty, the University serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 15,000 students in an urban setting.
